What is a virtual race?
It is a race where you get to pick when and where you run (within the timeframe allotted) - your neighborhood, a favorite park, a hike in the woods with your family, a solo run on the treadmill, on a track with a friend - any location and style of your liking! 

How do I prepare to run a 5K?
There are lots of resources online and apps you can download to train. The recommended timeframe for beginner runners is generally based on a 6-week schedule. Check out The Hub for lots of valuable information. 

When do I need to complete the run?
The event takes place between April 19 - May 10, 2021. Complete your run (or walk) anytime between these dates and upload your time in order to get our finisher's certificate. 

Can I create a team?
Absolutely! You can do so when registering. Feel free to invite all of your friends and family to join in on the fun. Also, if you are another Virginia CAC, you may register your entity as a team with the option to fundraise for your center in particular. Please send us an email if you are interested. 

Do I need to submit a finish time to receive a race medal?
Your medal will be mailed to you with your packet, so hypothetically, you could sport your medal without running/walking the race. Yet, we would appreciate your honesty and if you upload your results you'll get a snazzy finisher’s certificate that you can print and hang on your fridge. 

How do I track my distance and time?
We will accept your results on the honor system. You may use a running app, Fitbit, smartwatch or the time tracking device of your choice. You may record your time by selecting the "Actions" button and selecting the last option in the drop down. 

Will I still receive my race packet if I register and am unable to participate in the race for some reason?
Of course! We’ll ship a goodie bag right to your door, which consists of a custom t-shirt, race bib and medal. Once you run, just upload your results online and post some fun pictures. 

When will my race packet arrive?
We will do two mailings. We will ship the first packets out on April 12 and the remainder (that might not have registered in time to meet that cut-off for shipping) after the race concludes on May 3, 2021. 

Where will you ship?
The run is only open to US addresses. We will ship to the address you provide us (so please make sure it's accurate). 

What do I do if my t-shirt doesn't fit? Can I swap it?
We’re unfortunately not going to be able to do any exchanges for this year’s virtual run so we encourage you to go a size up if in doubt.
